Midwest Rescue of Illinois, Inc. is a small-but-passionate pit bull rescue serving people and pets in the Chicago area.
We're one of the Chicago area's oldest pit bull rescues.
We're volunteer-powered and foster-based.
We are licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
We hold 501c3 nonprofit status (EIN 14-1855007).
We are fiercely no-kill!
What We Do
We rescue good dogs from tough situations, give them the care they need and find them their perfect forever families.
We rescue dogs from animal control facilities, kill shelters and owners who can't care for them.
We help owners keep their pets by referring them to resources like pet food pantries, low-cost vet care and trainers.
We educate the public on the myths and facts about pit bulls. (It's our awesome ambassador dogs who really change hearts and minds! )
We aim to find the perfect match between people and pups, reflected in our thorough, multi-step adoption process.
Where to Find Us
We serve the Chicagoland area. We don't have a physical shelter; most of our board members, foster homes and volunteers live in
Cook, Lake, DuPage and McHenry counties.
(Our P.O Box is in Hoffman Estates.)
The dogs we rescue come from the Chicago area, and we adopt them to families who live locally, too. We hold adoption events and fundraisers throughout our area.
