At just one year old, Twilight found herself locked in a cell at a city shelter, her intake tag marked “OS, Owner Surrender”. Her family moved and she was not a part of their plans. According to her family this little 45 pound peanut was too big for their new place. Owner surrenders become property of the city as soon as the ink dries, which puts them in immediate danger.
Our Twilight was quickly introduced to other dogs and because she did so well, became a regular at the shelter play groups. There is an incredible base of volunteers who socialize dogs while they are living in the shelter. They do everything they can to increase the dogs’ chances of finding a rescue and even help them grow to the point of becoming adoptable to the public.

However, during her stay at this high kill, bursting-at-the-seams shelter, Twilight got sick. Her illness quickly took a turn for the worse, putting her on the urgent list. Her time was up, her health deteriorating and she needed a miracle. And a miracle is just what she got!
FREEDOM RIDE! Twilight’s first vet visit
Twilight is receiving the medical care she needs to combat the pneumonia she has in her temporary foster home. Once she gets the “all clear” from her doc, she will be ready to transition into a long term foster, or her forever home. This poor girl didn’t know what a doggie bed was, and cautiously tested it one foot at a time. But now, she fully appreciates the comfort and security of her bed!
Twilight is good with other dogs and people. We aren’t sure about cats yet, but Twilight has become the apple of her foster mommy’s eye.
She was saved for a reason, at the 11th hour, and we are grateful to be a part of Twilight’s journey.
